Overview

Hampstead is an unincorporated, census-designated area in Pender County, North Carolina. Located south of Surf City, to the west of Topsail Island, and to the north of Wilmington, Hampstead is comprised of an area sized just over 20 square miles. Local services are managed by Pender County, and the area had a population of 5,901 residents according to the 2019 Census.

Hampstead was founded in the early 1900s and has a long history as a small, rural community. The population of Hampstead has grown steadily over the years until around 2015.

In more recent years, Hampstead has experienced significant growth and development, and many new homes and businesses have been built in the area.

Despite this growth, Hampstead has maintained its small-town character and sense of community and is known for having a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
