Before our beer, there was Surf City, its stories, and the people who lived here. Our focus is to weave our own story into Surf City and offer a sense of place that reflects the history and the beauty of our town. Our beers hold the stories of places near and far—stories belonging to our founders, our brewers, and our coastal community. And they can be part of yours, too.
About the Management
While Daniel Callender and Dean Kelley are both former United States Marines, the pair didn’t actually meet during their time in the service. A fated neighborhood garage sale where Daniel was serving up his homebrew brought the two together. That was in 2016. Flash forward a few years, add North Carolina-native business partner Zack White, factor in many pints of Coastline Kölsch, and you’ve got what Salty Turtle Beer Company is today.
