On Monday, February 13th the North Carolina Department of Transportation began scheduled maintenance on one of two bridges that provide motor vehicle access to Topsail Island.
Trooper Larry Walton Memorial Bridge connects the communities of Sneads Ferry and North Topsail Beach as part of Highway 210 on the northern end of Topsail Island.
Scheduled maintenance began earlier this week and is expected to be completed on March 23, 2023, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation website. While maintenance work is being performed, the two-lane bridge will have one lane closed to allow for NCDOT crews to work safely. The single-lane closures will continue to occur Monday through Thursday of each week between the hours of 9 AM and 4 PM.
NCDOT asks motorists to exercise caution and patience while using the bridge while work is being performed. Seeking an alternate route is also recommended, which would require the use of the Surf City Bridge.
