Herring's Outdoor Sports was started in 1962 by Edgar 'Johnny' Herring, originally as a bait and tackle shop, and now operates as a clothing and outdoor sports retailer in Surf City. The store carries apparel for men, women and kids plus footwear and headwear. Outdoor equipment includes coolers, speakers, umbrellas and chairs, and accessories include jewelry, bags and sunglasses. Home goods, drinkware and rentals are also available; hours are Sunday-Thursday 9am-8pm and Friday-Saturday 9am-9pm.
