Topsail Steamer is not a restaurant. You do not sit down and eat here. You buy a steam pot, take it back to wherever you are staying, and cook it there.
The pots are built around fresh local seafood with meat, vegetables and their own spice blend. There are five signature Bay Buckets, including Low Country and New England clam bake styles, and a build-your-own option in two sizes. It works well for a rental house full of people and badly as a plan for a quick lunch.
You will find them at 302 South Topsail Drive in Surf City. Hours are listed differently on three separate sites, so call 910-328-2645 rather than trust any of them, particularly outside peak season.
Order ahead if you are feeding a crowd on a Saturday in July. The concept has spread to several other coastal towns since it started here, but this is the Surf City location.
