Surf City Ocean Pier, proudly standing as Topsail Island’s first ocean pier since 1948, offers a classic seaside experience where visitors can fish, stroll, dine, and soak in ocean views. Rebuilt in 1997 after Hurricane Fran, its 937-foot structure culminates in a 40-foot octagon, complete with lighting for night fishing and two fish-cleaning stations. A fully stocked tackle shop, bait station, grill serving fresh ground chuck burgers, ice cream counter, and covered outdoor seating enhance the visit – ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Fishing & Amenities
Whether you’re casting a line with rented gear or walking along as a spectator, the pier accommodates all. Daily fishing passes allow up to two rods, with spectator access available. Seasonal fishing and parking passes are also offered for regular anglers. The pier operates from mid‑March through December 1, open 24/7, and live webcams allow guests to check conditions in real time.
Experience & Community
More than a pier, this is a community landmark – family‑run since 1973 and a gathering spot for locals and tourists alike. With a no‑alcohol policy and a family-friendly atmosphere, Surf City Ocean Pier offers a wholesome coastal retreat ideal for fishing, surfing views, casual dining, or simply relaxing by the sea—all framed by the charm and history of a long-standing island tradition.
