Fall on the North Carolina coast means more than cooler breezes and open beaches. For locals and visitors alike, it marks the return of Autumn With Topsail, a three-day celebration of art, music, food, and community spirit. Now in its 36th year, the festival runs October 17–19, 2025, on the historic Assembly Building grounds in Topsail Beach.
A Festival With Purpose
Founded in 1988, Autumn With Topsail is more than a weekend of fun — it’s the primary fundraiser for the Historical Society of Topsail Island. Proceeds go directly to preserving the WWII-era Assembly Building and operating the Missiles and More Museum. This means every ticket purchased helps protect Topsail’s unique heritage, from stories of Operation Bumblebee missile testing to local pirate lore. As current chairman Steve Gordon puts it, the event ensures Topsail’s history is “collected, preserved, and promoted for future generations.”
2025 Festival Highlights

A Community Coming Together
Autumn With Topsail is powered by more than 300 volunteers, dozens of local businesses, and hundreds of artists. It’s where neighbors reconnect, visitors feel like locals, and children discover traditions they’ll pass on. The event also extends the tourist season into October, giving shops, restaurants, and rentals a welcome boost after summer crowds thin out.
Local photographer Jeff Wenzel summed it up best: “It’s really important for local vendors to make some money.” For vendors, artisans, and food trucks, AWT is more than exposure — it’s a vital revenue stream. For the community, it’s the heartbeat of fall on the island.
Why You Shouldn’t Miss It
Whether you’re a long-time resident or first-time visitor, Autumn With Topsail 2025 offers something for everyone: art to admire, music to dance to, food to savor, and a community to be part of. More than a festival, it’s an investment in the island’s future — preserving history while celebrating the present. Mark your calendars for October 17–19 and come enjoy one of coastal Carolina’s most treasured traditions.
